Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral in Texas?

Yes, you can! Texas has Direct Access laws that allow you to see a licensed physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. You can receive evaluation and treatment for up to 10 consecutive business days. However, the Plan of Care (POC) must be signed by a physician within those 10 days for treatment to continue. Direct access lets you begin your recovery immediately, saving time and addressing your pain or mobility concerns promptly. If additional care is needed, we’ll assist in coordinating with your physician to ensure seamless and effective treatment.

Will insurance cover my physical therapy?

Insurance coverage depends on your specific plan. We are now accepting Medicare (traditional only) and are in the process of expanding our accepted insurance providers. For other patients, we offer an out of network provider model, which provides several benefits, including more personalized care, no restrictions on treatment plans, and no surprise bills. This approach allows us to focus entirely on your recovery without insurance limitations. To verify your Medicare benefits or learn more about our out of network options, we recommend checking with your insurance provider or reaching out to us—we’re happy to help!

What should I expect during physical therapy sessions?

Physical therapy sessions typically involve an assessment of your condition, manual techniques to improve mobility and flexibility, individualized exercises and activities to help you reach your goals, education on how to prevent further injury or pain, and instruction on proper posture, body mechanics and other lifestyle changes.

Is there anything I can do before my appointment to prepare?

Yes! Make sure you arrive for your session well-rested so that you can give it your full attention and energy. It is also helpful if you keep track of how much pain medication (if any) you take prior to the appointment so that the physical therapist can adjust the intensity of treatment accordingly.
